NEM 2.0 Era Begins in San Diego

NEM 2.0 Era Begins in San Diego

As of 8:30 this morning, the California Solar Energy Industries Association (CALSEIA) announced that San Diego Gas and Electric reached the 5% cap on its Net Energy Metering Program (NEM 1.0). This signals the dawn of the NEM 2.0 era for San Diego.

If an “Authority Having Jurisdiction” (AHJ) communicated approval of a system to SDG&E by 8:30 this morning, the system may continue to operate under NEM 1.0

However, if you submitted an interconnection application but did not receive approval by this morning, your application has been cancelled.

SDG&E promised that they will have NEM 2.0 interconnection applications available in the Distribution Interconnection Information System (DIIS) by Friday, July 1st. Applications can then be resubmitted. If the AHJ approval is already in motion, it will transfer with the meter number to your new application
