Video: NRG Microgrid Development at Station A Decommissioned Power Plant

NRG is one of the largest energy companies in the U.S. with a leading retail electricity grid platform. The power company has one of the most diverse and largest electrical generation portfolios.

The Station A and Little House buildings at the decommissioned Potrero power plant on the San Francisco Bay are sites for NRG’s development of microgrids. This is the first solar photovoltaic microgrid development of its kind in the US. Excess electricity is used to charge the PV batteries and then it backfeeds the power to the grid. They can also be bypassed so that the system is directly tied to the grid.
